NOTE - APP IS FOR UK - **DOES NOT COVER US**
The ultimate how-to reference guide and companion to those placing Freedom of Information Act 2000 requests to public bodies in the UK.
Public bodies often claim exemptions inappropriately - armed with the knowledge in this app you'll be ready to preempt and challenge incorrect use of exemptions.
Think of this book as a dictionary/encyclopedia/quick reference guide to the various exemptions you may encounter complete with background and tips to overcome them.
Placing FOI requests can be done by anyone and does not require the use of a lawyer or legal training - but knowledge of the exemptions and judgments will be invaluable in getting the most out of the Act and allow you to anticipate problems at the point of request - and knowledgeably handle Internal Reviews.
In addition to summaries of the exemptions the app includes a legal tab which provides the exact wording of the legislation, links to the precise section on legislation.gov.uk, and will also refer you to helpful case law judgments and guidance from the Information Commissioner and the Ministry of Justice where detail is needed.
We recommend using the app in conjunction with http://www.whatdotheyknow.com

If you find the app useful please take a moment to review it on the Google Play Store.
NB - Whilst the app will still be helpful for those in Scotland specific updates to cover the Freedom of Information Act (Scotland) 2002 are planned. The act is similar in effect in both jurisdictions but some minor nuances will change.
Additionally, if seeking personal data on yourself you want to make a Subject Access Request under Article 15 of GDPR/the Data Protection Act 2018 rather than an FOI
